RONNIE SCOTTS JAZZ CLUB CHOOSES EARTHWORKS PM40 PIANOMIC

2009.11.26
World Famous Ronnie Scotts Jazz Club in Soho London has recently
purchased an Earthworks PM40 PianoMic for their in-house grand piano.
Engineer Danny Kissane auditioned the PM40 over several gigs with
outstanding results over their existing microphones. “ As soon as I put
the mic up I could hear the difference immediately. The PM40 on grand
piano delivers the most honest sound I’ve ever experienced. It has a
smooth top end, not even a hit of being harsh unlike other microphones
I’ve encountered, a well-rounded middle and a full bottom end. The
unique mounting system allows for a quick and consistent set up. It’s
brilliant!”
The PM40 was designed at the request of American sound contractors.
They didn’t like the sound they were getting from other microphones,
they didn’t like the microphone stands in front of the piano, they
couldn’t get enough sound level before feedback and they were also
getting leakage from nearby instruments into the piano microphones. In
addition, engineers in recording studios told us how difficult it was
to record an acoustic piano in the same room with other instruments.
The PM40 overcomes all these obstacles with ease, Incredible High
Definition Audio that will outperform any microphones at any price,
achieving incredible gain before feedback, the PM40 can't be seen from
outside of the piano so no need for stands or mic booms, virtually no
leakage from sounds outside the piano, recording studios can now record
piano with other instruments in the same room, and it can be installed
quickly and easily.
Ronnie Scotts celebrates it’s 50th anniversary this year and over the
50 years the club has had through it’s doors just about every legendary
jazz musician you can name.
