Abbey Road and Chandler
Limited announce the creation of the first EMI TG compressor/limiter
plug-in; a digital edition of an analogue classic
London's Abbey Road Studios and
leading vintage equipment manufacturer US based, Chandler Limited have
today released the first preview demo of the new EMI TG 12413 Limiter
plug-in as launched at the AES last autumn. The demo is available as a
secure download from Abbey Road's website.
Based on the original
compressor/limiter module built in the 1960's, the new TG12413 Limiter
Plug-in offers audio users the fresh option of using this rare and much
sought after piece of analogue kit in the digital domain. The original
TG12413 compressor/limiter was custom made by EMI technicians at Abbey
Road as a component module of the TG12345 mix desk. The 24 mic, 8 track
mixing console was used to record a host of classic albums of that era
including The Beatles Abbey Road and Pink Floyd's Dark Side Of The
Moon. The TG12413 Limiter Plug-in is and authentic emulation of this
classic model.
The software was developed
from original design notes, technical drawings and Abbey Road's
collection of vintage units. Key features include the option to
configure from mono right up to 7.1 surround sound; maintaining clarity
and high frequency response.
Peter Cobbin, Senior
Recording Engineer, Abbey Road Studios says: "In my work I have
consistently married vintage analogue equipment with the best digital
technology around. This new TG12413 Plug-in underlines Abbey Road's
commitment to both the importance of our heritage and the highest
standards of technical development. It also means that a small part of
Abbey Road can be invested into any studio anywhere in the world."
The TG12413 Limiter Plug-in is available in RTAS and TDM versions, for PC and MAC. VST and AU version will follow soon.
